DfE’s EdTech Impact Testbed Pilot: A Chance for FE Providers

An important opportunity we wanted to highlight for colleges and training providers across England.

The Department for Education (DfE) has launched the EdTech Impact Testbed Pilot — a national project to
identify and evaluate innovative technologies that can:

  • Reduce teacher and administrative workload
  • Improve learning outcomes for your learners
  • Increase inclusion for students with SEND

The purpose of the pilot

  • Identify EdTech tools — finding promising technologies with the potential to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Generate evidence — supporting EdTech organisations to collect robust impact data, helping colleges make informed decisions.
  • Test the testbed — exploring how best a future testbed can be designed to deliver on these aims.

Benefits to your college

  • Early access to trial innovative tools before wide adoption
  • Evidence-based insight into what works in FE settings
  • Influence on development so solutions reflect colleges’ realities
  • Contribution to sector-wide change through shared best practice

Deadline: 1 September 2025
